BARBAR Programming

WHERE THE WORK BEGINS

Programming

Through four interconnected teams, BAR supports the full arc of artistic development and presentation.

The Ensemble cultivates the work, the Media & Recording Team produces and documents it, the Music Business Team situates it within a broader public and cultural landscape, and Artist Development provides focused professional refinement.

01ACADEMIC CORE

Berklee Asia Rising Ensemble

A faculty-directed performance ensemble centered on contemporary Asian and Asian diasporic repertoire.

Participants develop and perform original arrangements through structured rehearsals and live performance, with emphasis on precision, cohesion, and translating studio work to the stage. The ensemble serves as the primary performance engine of BAR and anchors its artistic output.

02TECHNICAL PRODUCTION & DOCUMENTATION

Media & Recording Team

A faculty-guided production unit responsible for the professional capture and realization of BAR initiatives.

Students manage the production lifecycle through live-session tracking, studio production, mixing, engineering, post-production, asset management, technical documentation, and accurate final delivery.

03PROJECT EXECUTION & DISTRIBUTION

Music Business Team

A student-led team with faculty oversight managing the execution and distribution of BAR projects.

Participants work across event production, logistics, marketing, artist promotion, project management, audience engagement, professional communication, and reporting to coordinate releases, performances, and campaigns.

04PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION & MENTORSHIP

Artist Development

A selective, faculty-led track focused on the refinement of performance-ready artists.

Targeted coaching supports performance refinement, artistic direction, career positioning, and portfolio development. Entry is based on faculty evaluation of artistic readiness and professional commitment.

RECURRING PUBLIC FORMATS

Signature Productions

The place where BAR’s teams converge. Each production gives developing work a defined public form—onstage, in the studio, or through media and conversation.

01ANNUAL FLAGSHIP

Berklee Asia Rising Showcase

A culminating public performance bringing together curated repertoire, reinterpretations, original arrangements, artistic direction, ensemble performance, and full-scale concert production.

The highest level of BAR’s live performance output.
02ONGOING LIVE SERIES

Berklee Asia Rising Loft Series

A student-led performance setting for original artists, cross-cultural collaboration, audience development, and live production.

A testing ground where new work can develop in front of an audience.
03ONGOING RECORDING SERIES

Berklee Asia Rising Studio Series

An integrated recording and media initiative spanning studio performances, live sessions, professionally produced music videos, and project documentation.

Extends performance into recorded and digital formats.
04ONGOING MEDIA SERIES

Creative Media & Dialogue Series

Interviews, long-form conversations, short-form storytelling, and behind-the-scenes documentation centered on BAR’s artists and projects.

Builds context, visibility, and a fuller record around the work.

FROM PRACTICE TO PUBLIC WORK

Each team contributes to one connected platform.

Programming gives students distinct professional responsibilities while allowing projects to move across performance, recording, business, media, and public presentation.
